The Train Station is one of RiseVT’s partners. Lyndsi and Ben Cote became owners in September 2014 and are a part of the atmosphere that keeps members engaged and coming back for more. The Train Station is a Silver level RiseVT business and is working towards becoming Gold. Below is a conversation with Ben Cote about his passion for his business.

What motivated you to start this business?

I’ve always been an athlete my entire life. Since high school I was into physical fitness and after college, I received a job as a Certified Personal Trainer. I also was a Performance Coach for athletes within the Parisi Speed School franchise. I’ve always wanted to be my own boss, and I’ve loved fitness since I was a kid.  Even more so, when I developed the skills to help others enjoy fitness, as I do. That ultimately led to the decision to go after the gym. Fortunately, it happened sooner in life than I had expected.

What make the Train Station unique?

We have something for everyone, from bootcamps, mixed martial arts, boxing, zumba, pilates, cycling, barre, heavy weights, light weights, and more). We currently offer every new member a free Personal Training demo as well as Nutrition Consult from both a Certified Personal Trainer and a Certified Nutritionist. I understand there are stigmas associated with gyms, and we tend to have a reputation for more extreme fitness people, which I think is true to an extent. I believe our members are extremely passionate, and anyone who has walked into our doors since our re-opening has been welcomed with open arms. We encourage people to get out of their comfort zones, try something new, and we offer all the tools necessary to do so. That, and the fact that any one of our members is always willing to lend a hand and help out any way they can, is a great feeling.

What about your business makes you the most proud?

The people. Our members and staff truly WANT to be here and be a part of this gym. It’s a great atmosphere and that makes it very easy to take your health to the next level, with the amount of resources and encouragement available.
