Have you even contemplated trying a challenge at a local gym? This blog is going to talk about the recent successes that one of our very own local gyms has had recently. New Beginnings located in Swanton just finished celebrating their two year anniversary. Led by Chrystal and Spencer Hutchins this is the place to get personalized professional assistant with any of your health and wellness goals. At New Beginnings they offer a wide variety of different group classes, personal training and they’ll meet you where you’re at.

Recently they embarked on another one of their very successful health challenges. It total they had approximately 25 individuals who participated and were assisted in setting a S.M.A.R.T. (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timely) goal. Rise Vermont came into New Beginnings to help with their health challenge and we recorded their cholesterol, blood pressure and blood glucose as well. With all of these different markers being measured there were numerous ways to calculate success at the end.

Throughout the challenge Spencer and Chrystal were there the entire time in order to help support these individuals with their lifestyles changes. One of the interesting ways they tracked progression throughout the challenge was number of times in the gym, not how long or how much someone was doing, but the number of times. This simple, yet effective approach yielded great results turning weekend warriors into almost daily gym enthusiasts.

By the end of the challenge the progress that individuals saw was the measurable change to keep them motivated and inspired to stay on their personal health journey. When Rise Vermont did a post-biometric screenings we saw a decrease in cholesterol, blood pressure both high and low numbers. We saw a positive increase in HDL (good cholesterol). These numbers were another ‘hidden’ way of them being able to see change that’s happening within their body.

Rise Vermont has been very happy to work with New Beginnings for this collaborative effort to see positive change within one of our communities. This isn’t the only challenge that New Beginnings has done and it won’t be there last.
