Two weeks ago we had yet another fitness professional join us in the park, Adam Parent. This blog will talk about the class, his background and how you can be involved. Our Rise Vermont Show Up events has been growing not only in Saint Albans but throughout our community as well.

Adam Parent is our local weight room supervisor and trainer at Collins Perley Sports and Fitness Center. He is a NSCA Certified Personal Trainer and has his Level 1 Sports Performance Coaching for USA Weightlifting. He is also a certified massage therapist and received his education through Community College of Vermont. His holistic approach to training is what makes him a unique trainer/coach. Throughout the years of practicing and honing his skillset he approaches each individual with a tailored approach; specific to their needs.

Adam showed up on Wednesday, ready to go! We had a unique group of individuals from all age ranges and athletic abilities that attended. He brought body bars, dumbbells, kettlebells and instructional charts to demonstrate the exercises as well. He had four main stations to target different muscle groups. Then there were four stations in the middle of the park that were core exercises. He had everyone split into different groups then rotate through the stations, offering modifications when necessary. Then after a full cycle everyone meet in the middle to do core exercises together as a group. We repeated this rotation with time to spare at the end for stretching.

Our community focused Rise Vermont  show up events continues next week. Next week we have another member/instructor from  Ruth Cronin who will be teaching Thai Chi in Taylor Park next Wednesday. Stay tuned through our social media to find who our next instructor will be. We’ve also begun Rise Vermont show up events in Swanton and Fairfax as well. Together we’re beginning to unite as a community to see the desired measured change. Let’s stay focused on embracing a healthier lifestyle.
